Check it out, sports fans. There's a star-studded gig in NYC celebrating what would have been the 60th birthday of Townes Van Zandt (its on the eve of his birthday, see info below). The news of this event comes to us from our friend John Kruth, a mandolin virtuoso and writer in that fair city. His book on Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Bright Moments, was well-received around the music world. Big news for us is that for a couple of years he's been working on a book about Townes. We're hoping to run an excerpt from the book in an imminent issue, and perhaps even serialize it, if we're really lucky.
