Rachel Bissex was a good friend to many of us in the folk and singer songwriter world, and a beloved writer and performer. She died this past February after a two year battle with cancer.
I remember sitting with Rachel in the song circle at Camp Nashville at the Kerrville Folk Festival, and how deeply moved I was by her rendition of "Dancing with My Mother." You never know how soon some of your people will disappear.
It was Rachel's last wish that her children be able to go to college. A group of her close friends have organized a project to make a tribute CD of Rachels songs, performed by many high profile musicians, to achieve that end. The button below will take you to the site dedicated to the Rachel Bissex Memorial College Fund. We hope you will preorder the CD, which is due in the summertime, or make a donation.
